Porcelain Inlays & Onlays

These are very similar to composite (white) fillings, except the material used to fill/cover your tooth is porcelain.

When a tooth is broken down or has a large amount of decay, it is not always possible to restore it with a filling material. What we can do for you is an inlay, which is designed to bond to the tooth within the cusps and offers excellent aesthetics and function. We will prepare your tooth, take an impression of it and send it to our specialist laboratory. One week later, we bond the porcelain inlay to your tooth. The colour will be matched to your own teeth and whilst you are waiting for your inlay to return from the lab, we will fit you with a temporary.

An onlay is used when the tooth has one or more decayed or fractured cusp, this then covers that particular part of the tooth surface. It is made and fitted to your tooth in exactly the same way as an inlay.
